Ioana Vlasiu

Ioana Vlasiu is an art historian and critic. Senior researcher at the “George Oprescu” Institute of Art History of the Romanian Academy, she publishes numerous articles, studies, and books about modern Romanian art in a European context and takes part in the organisation of important exhibitions dedicated to interwar art. At the Institute, she initiates colloquia and conferences on modern art. She coordinates The Dictionary of Romanian Sculptors. XIX–XX Centuries and the project The Saint of Montparnasse, from Document to Myth. One Hundred Years of Brancusi Exegesis (2012–2014). She is a visiting professor, from 1990–2000, at the National University of Arts in Bucharest and fellow of the Getty Foundation in 1994. She receives the “George Oprescu” Award of the Romanian Academy in 2015. In 2018 she curates the Octav Grigorescu/Georgeta Năpăruș retrospective at the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest.
